Rayback

The Rayback was one of the first faunal organisms encountered by Barlowe and his crew during his voyage to Darwin IV. They are Mid-sized pursuit predators that chase down their prey before impaling them with their razor-sharp proboscis. This proboscis is extendable like its distant relatives, the Arrowtongues, but not to such a degree. Their name derives from the lengthened neural spines on the back, used for visual display and receiving sonar signals.
